FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On 20 and 21 February 2016,Category 5 Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston swept through Fiji and the Fiji’s Suncoast and Rakiraki town received a direct hit from the cyclone with the eye wall passing directly over us.

We are very happy to announce that all Guests and Staff are well after the recent cyclone came across our heads, and no one at any of the hotels or resorts were injured during the storm.

Mr Nick Darling, Managing Director of Volivoli  Beach Resort and Chairman of Tourism Suncoast, said, “The clean up and rebuild process has already commenced at Volivoli, our carpenters have already started the re-roofing today on Friday 25th February 2015. All our existing Volivoli staff have been offered employment in the clean up process and are hard at work on the resort.”

Mr Allan Carter, General Manager of Wananavu, and Secretary of Tourism Suncoast, said ” We are all grateful that all of our staff and guests at al our Suncoast properties got through this without any injuries. Although many properties sustained some damage we expect to be all up and running in very little time.”

Fiji’s Suncoast resorts have mostly all sustained some damage but all are hard at work cleaning up and repairing any damage. All are working hard with their staff and communities to get back into action! Here’s the reports from Tourism Suncoast members so far:
