The two-day Fiji Wedding Show was held on 19th and 20th March 2016 at the Shangri-la Fijian Resort and Spa, and the exhibition featured all of the wedding service suppliers in Fiji from resorts to cake makers, photographers, hair and make-up specialists as well as Hen and Buck party organisers.
Fiji’s Suncoast showcases 4 resorts at the first Fiji Wedding Show
Fiji’s Suncoast was represented by Mr Allan Carter (General Manager) and Mrs Illy Daurewa (Wedding Coordinator) of Wananavu, and showcased 4 resorts from the region, Golden Point Resort, Betham’s Beach Cottages, Wananavu Beach Resort and Voilvioli Beach Resort.
Mr Nick Darling, Managing Director of Volivoli Beach Resort and Chairman of Tourism Suncoast, said, “This is a great opportunity for Fiji’s Suncoast to showcase it’s destination wedding properties and services to the world.”
Mr Allan Carter, General Manager of Wananavu, and Secretary of Tourism Suncoast, said “As Fiji’s Suncoast has more days of sunshine than any other region in Fiji, the region has a natural advantage in offering that special day for the happy couple.”
“As the first official show attended by Tourism Suncoast, we did not know exactly what to expect at first, but we have been pleasantly surprised by the the number of visitors on Saturday and Sunday.”
“It’s definitely been productive for the 4 properties who are part of the Suncoast booth” he said. “The diversity of the properties clearly show the different choices and options available for weddings along Fiji’s Suncoast.”
Mr Carter continued “The the host venue for this Show, Shangri-La Fijian Resort, and Tourism Fiji are to be commended and congratulated in getting it all together for the suppliers. We have been wonderfully surprised by some who have gone all out to set up their booths.”
“We also had many opportunities for meeting media this weekend, including interviews with Fiji ONE TV and Fiji Sun. Alongside the wedding media, this was a great opportunity to showcase our properties in the press.”
Mr Carter continued, “We look forward to working together with Tourism Fiji towards the Fiji Tourism Expo (FTE), our next big show, from 3rd to 6th May 2016 at the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Denarau. Suncoast will be showcasing all the resorts from our region and we anticipate a great FTE”
Tourism Suncoast viewed its participation in the expo as a promising opportunity to work together
with Tourism Fiji in promoting their destination and their products.
MDF’s partnership
MDF’s partnership with Tourism Suncoast is focused on marketing the destination and creating strong brand through gaining membership from tourism related businesses in the region and supporting their participation in key tourism events. MDF has further assisted Tourism Suncoast by engaging a project consultant to provide secretarial support.
“MDF’s support gave us the platform to represent in this expo which helped us to interact with Tourism Fiji and potential clients for our wedding packages” said Allan Carter.
