The newly formed Suncoast Fiji has commended Tourism Fiji for hosting the inaugural Fiji Wedding Expo at the Shangri-La Fijian Resort in Yanuca Island over the weekend.
Secretary Allan Charters said: “It is really good and it’s a positive thing because we haven’t done this in the wedding market in Fiji before.
“I think Tourism Fiji needs to be commended for this to bring back business to Fiji and it’s a fantastic thing.”
Suncoast Fiji is made up by the properties and tour operators in the North of Viti Levu.
Mr Carter said: “We’ve come together to form Suncoast Fiji and we represent all the hotels and tourist operators up to Barito and far down to Tavua and little bit in to the interior with some of the trekking operators as well.
“The objective was to form an association similar to the Coral Coast and the Denarau properties so we can work with Tourism Fiji to promote this area of Fiji.
“There is a diverse range of properties- such as 5 stars, Dolphin Island Resort, 3 and 4 stars properties and backpackers – that cater for weddings, diving and honeymoon.
This includes Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel, Wananavu Beach Resort, Dolphin Island Resort, Volivoli Beach Resort, Golden Point Resort, Bethams Beach Cottages and Nananu-i-ra Island.
