It’s the anniversary of a very special day in Fiji – when our sevens team made history by winning an Olympic Gold in Rio!
For those of us in Ra, many of who were still piecing their lives back together post-Winston, that day brought a very welcome celebration.
Families and communities came together to watch the game and could forget their problems.
“We watched the game in a neighbouring village and there’s no better way to watch Fiji win than being surrounded by friends and family’ “Penisoni Naimata, Chair of the Tourism Committee in Nabalesere village related.
That day, Osea Kolinisau and his team, put Fiji on the map.
And watching the team reflect on their achievement by singing a beautiful hymn together they also reflected the country’s values to the world – togetherness, community and family.
And it’s these values that make visitors fall in love with Fiji and keep them returning.
As a small vinaka vakalevu to Osea for everything that he has done for Fiji, Tourism Suncoast were delighted that Osea and Tavu accepted our invitation to spend some of their honeymoon with us.
We wish them all the very best with their next adventure.
Osea and Tavu spent time at Wananavu Beach Resort, Volivoli Beach Resort, on Nananu-i-ra with produce from Waitika Farms, visited Nabalesere village for a trek with Talanoa Treks and NatureFiji-MareqetiViti and were transferred back to Suva with Pehicle Tours.
